Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition in advertisements is a creative means of linking two unrelated ideas, product, service or concept together to create a new meaning to the advertisement. When applied successfully consumers feel that it is a smart and catchy method of getting their attention. However using this method may prove to be risky when the consumer gets lost in the link and meaning of the juxtaposition, this will bore and irritate the audience, leaving a negative blow to the product or service being advertised.

I feel that the best ideas are those that are relatable and simple, for instance there was an advertisement for real estate that stated “A return to village life,” and it went on to explain how everything in the neighborhood was near your home and generally went on to make the link between the housing area to old style villages and the high level of comfort that this lifestyle would offer for families with young children.

Associated mind map

Mortal and pestle

Through mortal and pestle we can create connections between things that are not directly related. For example, mortar and pestle can be used as a musical instrument, ashtray, or devil (poisonous potion).

Intelligence, invention, innovation, novelty

Intelligence, invention, innovation, novelty
In my opinion one does

not necessarily need to be intelligent to be innovative, but one must certainly have it to sustain it and to take the innovation to the next level, which would ideally be invention. Furthermore one would have to use novelty to present the “invention” successfully to the intended target audience. Ergo intelligence, innovation, invention and novelty are in a way a thinking process that is developed into an action, wish initially results in a feasible idea, product, service that is presented in an attractive way i.e. it is presented as a novelty.

Perhaps a cliché but noteworthy example of these four steps being applied successfully would be Steve Jobs intelligent innovation iPhone 3GS which was a bombshell of a success as opposed to iPad, which appears to be disappointing consumers and users.

One of the keys to being creative is being open. Sometimes we go through a state of obstruction, where the doors of our mind are closed; are ideas are overlooked and disapproved. It’s good to be open because in this state we have the tendency to live with a sense of curiosity and exploration. Every moment is filled with an opportunity to learn and discover. The world is perceived alive, full of energy, and vibrant. People like this look for new experiences and conversation with new people. Motivation can also be affective in being creative. Individuals can be pushed from idea to a higher stage like end product. Creativity is an inborn capability for thinking differently than most, seeing differently, and making connections and distinguishing relationships, which others fail to miss. But most importantly, it is the ability to create something that meets a specific challenge. It’s good to be challenged. When you feel challenged there is a basic urge to broaden your personal borders and seek new possibilities.

In my opinion creativity is valuable and a glowing light within each one of us, that makes us special, distinctive, and unique.
